SourcingplastichouseholdgoodsfromIndia
India's injection-moulding capacity is one of the largest in Asia — over 40,000 injection-moulding tonnes installed across the Delhi NCR, Vapi and Bengaluru belts. Our plastic household goods sourcing covers food-grade storage containers, kitchen organisers, bath accessories, laundry baskets, pet products and general utility housewares. Everything runs on BPA-free food-grade PP or PE resin, colour-matched to Pantone, and certified for the destination market.

Product coverage and typical programmes
The plastic household category is enormous in India, but our supplier shortlist is deliberately narrow — three factories each in Noida and Delhi NCR who run to export-grade tolerances. Food-storage containers (round, square, air-tight, microwave-safe) dominate the volume; kitchen organisers, drawer dividers, spice racks and cutlery trays account for the next-largest slice. Bath accessories — soap dishes, toothbrush stands, tumblers, tissue-box holders and stools — round out the core range.
Beyond core housewares, our factories run laundry baskets, cleaning-tool holders, pet food-and-water bowls, storage tubs, planters, garden accessories and specialist items like DIY organisers, tool caddies and hobby storage systems. We typically consolidate 4-8 SKUs per 20-ft container to keep MOQ per SKU manageable.

Materials, resin and food-grade certification
Resin selection is the single biggest quality lever in plastic housewares. Our supplier tier uses only virgin food-grade PP (polypropylene) or PE (polyethylene) resin from Reliance Industries and IOCL — never regrind, never recycled resin in food-contact SKUs. BPA is chemically impossible in PP or PE, but we still run confirmatory testing to satisfy buyers who require the paper trail. Phthalate-free, cadmium-free, lead-free colour masterbatch is standard.
For microwave-safe SKUs we specify high-heat PP grade (Homopolymer H110MA or equivalent) with rated performance to 120°C. For freezer-safe SKUs we specify PP-copolymer for impact toughness at -20°C. Every resin batch carries a Certificate of Conformity from the polymer manufacturer and is cross-verified in our Delhi QC lab.
Tooling, MOQ and unit economics
Injection-moulding economics are unforgiving on low volumes. Existing tooling (from our supplier's stock designs) unlocks MOQs from 5,000 units at very competitive pricing — this is the standard route for private-label buyers who don't need bespoke shape. Custom tooling amortises over 25,000+ units and adds a one-time tooling cost of $1,500-$8,000 per cavity depending on complexity.
For DTC and retail brands with distinctive design language, tooling is the meaningful investment — the tooling itself becomes IP the brand owns, and subsequent orders drop to the amortised unit price. Our factories run 2K/3K/multi-cavity tooling on a routine basis and can produce family-of-cavity tools where one mould yields matched lid and base pairs.
Packaging, freight and destination compliance
Plastic housewares are volume-heavy but weight-light, which changes the freight calculus versus dense categories like cookware or brass. A 40-ft high-cube container typically loads at 18-24 CBM before it caps out on volume, well before it approaches the 26-ton weight ceiling. Nested-stack design (SKUs designed to nest inside each other during freight) can lift container yield 40-60%.
Packaging runs the range from bulk polybag-in-carton (for wholesale buyers) to full retail-ready dielined packaging (for Big-Box and DTC channels) to FBA-ready SIOC (Ships In Own Container) for Amazon programmes. Multi-language labels, safety warnings (choking hazard, microwave-safety declarations) and food-contact declarations are integrated at factory.
Frequently asked
Plastic Household Goods — buyer questions
Do Indian plastic housewares meet BPA-free and food-grade EU standards?
Yes. Our factories use only virgin food-grade PP and PE resin from Reliance and IOCL. BPA is chemically absent from these polymer families. FDA 21 CFR Part 177, LFGB, EU 1935/2004 and REACH SVHC panels are provided on every shipment.
What is the MOQ for custom-tooled plastic products from India?
5,000 units per SKU using stock (existing) tooling. Custom-tooled programmes start at 25,000 units to amortise tooling cost sensibly, though smaller commercial-only tooling investments (2K-cavity single-family) can run from 15,000 units.
How much does new injection-mould tooling cost?
$1,500 to $8,000 per cavity depending on part complexity, cavity count and steel grade. Family-of-cavity tools (matched lid + base) are typically 20-30% cheaper per part than separate single-cavity tools. Tooling remains the buyer's property.
Are your plastic bath and kitchen products microwave-safe and freezer-safe?
Yes. Microwave-safe SKUs use PP homopolymer rated to 120°C. Freezer-safe SKUs use PP copolymer for impact toughness at -20°C. Every claim is lab-verified and printed on the product label per destination-market regulation.
Can you produce colour-matched plastic products to my brand Pantone?
Yes. Colour is achieved through masterbatch (colour concentrate mixed with resin at moulding), matched against Pantone Solid Coated. Standard tolerance is Delta-E < 2.0. Every colour run carries a certified reference chip for QC verification.
How many plastic household goods fit in a 40-ft container from India?
Highly variable — depends on part geometry and nesting efficiency. Typical range is 18-24 CBM (volume-limited before weight-limited). Nested-stack SKUs push container yields 40-60% higher than non-nested equivalents.
