Decorative tray sourcing from India.
Decorative trays are one of India's deepest export categories — brass round and rectangular trays from Moradabad, mango-wood serving trays from Saharanpur, white-marble and inlay trays from Agra, enamel-painted and bone-inlay trays from Jaipur. Asia Sourcing manages development, sampling, QC and documentation for retail programmes running from a single container to full private-label collections.

Depth of category
Trays are a programme category — most buyers run 15-40 SKUs across sizes, shapes and finishes rather than three or four hero pieces. A typical first-container programme blends two brass round sizes, one brass rectangular, two wood sizes with contrasting handle treatments, and one or two marble or enamel accent SKUs. Entry FOB India from $3 (small brass) to $25 (large marble inlay).
The handle question
The single most-common defect we catch at PSI is loose handles — screw tightness during production falls below spec when line pace increases toward end-of-week. Our DPI protocol locks a torque-check gate at 30% completion; our PSI runs a lift test on every sampled unit. Buyers who skip DPI on wood-tray programmes see 2-4× the handle-failure rate on arrival.

Frequently asked
What's the MOQ for mango-wood trays from India?
Typically 150-300 pieces per SKU per size; smaller for mixed-SKU private-label programmes consolidated across a single factory.
Can you source trays with custom branding or laser engraving?
Yes. Laser engraving on brass and wood, blind embossing on leather handles, hand-painted enamel branding on meenakari pieces. We develop the branding spec in sampling before PO.
Are mango-wood trays sustainable?
Mango wood is harvested from end-of-fruit-life trees — functionally a by-product. FSC certification is available on request from our FSC-licensed sawmills in Saharanpur and Jodhpur.
